Poetry Pathways Workshop

Award-winning poet Peter Ramm presents a FREE poetry workshop for budding young writers (12-18).
Taking inspiration from the “Valley Pathways” exhibition at Shoalhaven Regional Art Gallery, young people will have the opportunity to write a poem that they can submit to Red Room Poetry’s ‘Poem Forest’ competition:
POEM FOREST is a free nature writing prize that breathes life back into the natural world that sustains us. Created by Red Room Poetry, in partnership with The Australian Botanic Garden, POEM FOREST invites students and teachers to use their words to make positive climate action. For every nature poem received a tree is planted to help heal habitats and create a POEM FOREST for future generations.
PARTICIPANTS TO BRING: Writing pad & pen. Water bottle & snacks as needed
FACILITATOR Peter Ramm is a poet who writes on the Gundungarra lands of the NSW Southern Highlands. His work appears in Cordite, Westerly, Plumwood Mountain, The Rialto, Eureka Street Journal and with the Red Room Company. His poems have won the Manchester Poetry Prize, South Coast Writers Centre Poetry Award and the Harri Jones Memorial Award, and have shortlisted in the Bridport, ACU, Blake, and Newcastle Poetry Prizes. In 2021 he was awarded residencies at the Wollongong Botanic Gardens and WestWord’s Daffodil Cottage. His debut poetry collection Waterlines has just been released by Vagabond Press.
The Poetry Pathways program is presented in a partnership between the South Coast Writers Centre, Shoalhaven Regional Art Gallery and Shoalhaven Libraries. It is part of the Holiday Break program supported by the Office for Regional Youth in partnership with Create NSW.
